Monterey, California

We finally stayed in one place for more than one night; it was wonderful not to have to pack up every day!  Our campground was right on the beach, with a lovely 1/3 mile hike across the sand dunes to see the California coastline.  To some of us the walk felt great, to others it felt a little too much like exercise.

We had several delicious seafood meals (see mouth watering picture below!).
We had a little fire on the beach with s'mores and hot chocolate, though admittedly it took us about twenty minutes to get the fire started in the ocean breeze!

The Monterey Bay Aquarium was so crowded.  As we waited in line, we were blessed by a complete stranger giving Benjamin a free entrance ticket which she had won.

On July 4th, we celebrated Benjamin's Christian birthday (he asked Jesus into his heart one year ago) by going out on a whale watching boat.  What a gift from God to see three humpback whales.
Next stop:   San Francisco.

  1. Alice & I loved Monterey (25th anniv. trip). We drove out to Pebble Beach and I played a little golf ... on the par-3, not the big course.
