Crater Lake National Park

We spent July 10-11 in the pretty little town of Grants Pass, Oregon and drove about two hours to see Crater Lake National Park.  The first view took our breath away.  This is the deepest lake in the United States and considered to be the cleanest in the world.  There are no inlets or outlets; water enters only through rain and melting snow.

Benjamin loved seeing snow in July.  It was actually frozen ice that hadn't yet melted at such high altitudes.  As we drove around the rim, we suddenly encountered hundreds upon hundreds of butterflies that had just hatched.  It was a sight we won't soon forget.

Our time in Crater Lake was one of those magical days where we were in awe of God's beautiful creation, aware of His many blessings, and so thankful to be together as a family.  It was the highlight of the trip . . .  so far.
